Now available at a bookshop near you! Love, Freedom & Aloneness: A New Vision of Relating Released
this month by St. Martin's Press (USA), this beautiful new book tackles
the whole complexity of issues around relating – from sex to parenting,
from jealousy to compassion, from "falling in a ditch" to "rising in
love." Whether you're just beginning a relationship or just ending one, or
whether you're part of a happy couple or happy to be uncoupled and alone –
reading these pages is like a heart-to-heart with a wise and perceptive
friend. Ask for it at your local bookshop, or order it online
from barnes&noble.com or amazon.com. Check out the osho.com shop to

Warming (click
here for more on this) has become a political football within
the US political establishment. Despite the refusal of the Bush
administration to sign up, the Kyoto treaty on climate change was finally
salvaged by making enough compromises to these interests. Instead of
reducing carbon emissions by some 5%, they estimate the new revised treaty
will reduce them by only 3%, assuming everyone fulfills their obligations.
Hope.com! To actually stop global warming these emissions will have to be
reduced by 60%! So, while the people of the pacific island of Tuvalu are
preparing to abandon their island to rising sea levels, the president of
the US wants "more studies" done before he is convinced of the need to
act. (By contrast he doesn't seem to think that the implications of
putting weapons into space needs any more study at all). |

Western Medicine Acknowledges Benefits of Meditation
According
to a study in the July issue of American Journal of Public Health
learning a meditative practice called "mindfulness" can help take the edge
off life's stress. This is the first study to look at meditation and
stress-reduction techniques in people who reported high stress levels, but
did not have a diagnosed psychiatric disorder. Says
study author Kimberly A. Williams, PhD, "One of the first steps toward
controlling stress is to become aware of your thoughts and feelings –
because that's your body's way of saying that something is happening. And
the second step is to evaluate those thoughts and feeling". They
call this technique "mindfulness," and it basically incorporates watching,
breath, awareness and centering techniques. It looks like the Western
medical world may finally begin to understand the essence of the Osho
approach: "And remember, watching is the only key. Observation is
meditation – there is nothing more to meditation; it is another name for
being aware. And the miracle is that when you become aware of something,
utterly aware, it disappears. It remains only if you are unaware. Your
unawareness is a food for distraction, for indolence. Your awareness means
they are no longer being fed, they start starving. Sooner or later they
wither away of their own accord." Create your own greeting card complete with Osho audio clips and photographs of the Zen Garden / ecological park at the Osho Meditation Resort. Send friends Osho insights on everyday issues such as understanding the mind, love, meditation and parenting and add your own personal message. To try it out, click on the photo on the left or here.
